Back Pain

In the UK, 2.5 million people have back pain every day of the year [1] and results in a total cost of £12.3 billion (22% of UK healthcare expenditure).

Back pain is a common problem and is often caused by a simple muscle, tendon or ligament strain and not usually by a serious problem. Back pain can be acute, where the pain starts quickly but then reduces after a few days or weeks, or chronic, where pain might last on and off for several weeks or even months and years.

Structure of the back

Often we see patients with low back pain and treatments could start with adjusting the neck area. We often get asked why the neck and not the low back. This of course varies from person to person however from the image below do you think the neck is linked to the low back?

As holistic chiropractors, we don’t just treat the area of pain, we look at the body as a whole.  We do our best to get you out of pain and then keep you well by maintenance care consisting of regular check-ups.

Some causes of low back pain:

  • Sitting down for long periods of time
  • Pregnancy
  • Poor posture
  • Lack of exercise
  • Muscle strains or sprains
