Sciatica is a pain that is caused by irritation or compression of the sciatic nerve, which is the longest nerve in your body. It runs from the back of the pelvis, through the buttocks, and all the way down both legs, ending at the feet.

When the sciatic nerve is compressed or irritated, it can cause pain, numbness and a tingling sensation that radiates from your lower back and travels down one of the legs to the feet and toes. This pain can range from being mild to very painful, and may be made worse by sneezing, coughing, or sitting for a long period of time.

Sciatica is usually caused by a herniated or bulging disc, however you can minimise the risk of developing such condition by adopting a better posture, setting up your work station correctly and improving your lifting techniques in everyday life and at the gym.

We have seen and treated a huge number of patients with this condition with successful outcomes. Don’t let pain be a part of your life, it’s not normal and you shouldn’t have to live with it by compensating with painkillers.
